Horizon Worlds

This is a small amount of my work that I've done that I can show to the public. I have done more work here but unfortunately that work is either something that is R&D for the company or not yet ready for the public. I would love to show this and I hope to show more during Connect 2025 in September.

Emotes

Emotes are one of my main contributions to Horizon worlds. I learned PopcornFX while on the job here and can confidently say that I know that program pretty well now, at least for making contained VFX.

Horizon has very specific requirements when it comes to the VFX it can play and emotes were sometimes a challenge to make. No two emotes were the same and sometimes the math logic that worked for one emote didn't work for another. This required me to constantly change what I was doing and get to know PopcornFX very well.

Eventually, I understood our emote system well enough that I trained others on how to create them. I trained/helped train about 4 others and 2 groups of vendors. Some of my other duties were to look over vendor's emotes and suggest changes and instruct them on how to fix bugs and math problems as mentioned above. Our vendors did not have access to our ingestion tools (a specific Unity plugin and internal websites) so I needed to be the lesion and communicate what I needed from them with detailed notes and ingest them. I also created documentation that helps all future vendors understand the process well.

One set of emotes became so popular internally that they took the models and incorporated them into a Carnival in Horizon Central. These emotes were the unicorn, duck, and capybara in the first clip. Typically I am given concept art for these but some are my own.

Rooftop Racers

Another project I worked on here was Rooftop Racers. This is a racing game intended to introduce players to our desktop editor when we launched that.

This project is one that I love because the style is fun and it was a joy to make the concept. I was able to add my ideas and one of them became a big hit with the players. It was the googly eyes pigeon. It quickly became a meme in the Discord community.

The first video is gameplay footage and the second video has my assets. I modeled many more assets but I did not include them if I didn't texture them. I modeled most assets in this project besides the large buildings, crane and rings. A few small assets like the metal fence and start/finish banner are not mine either.

This game is available now on Meta Horizon Worlds on desktop and VR.

MR Spaces

To wrap up what I can show here are a few models that are my favorite. These were created for use in MR with friends.

We reimagined a few popular creator made games and gave them an updated look. Fly Cater is the center piece, you are tasked with feeding a frog fireflies. You can see the frogs to the left.

The cute dragon is for another M game called Telekinesis where you can play as a wizard and levitate various objects. This dragon is one of them.

These games are available now on the Quest headset.

Thank you for taking a look at my work here. I really wish I could share more. Keep a look out for 2025 Connect. I'm told some really awesome stuff I've worked on will be shown!
